General
HKIACF is a charitable foundation established as a company limited by guarantee and registered with the Companies Registry of Hong Kong on 12 October 2022. We obtained tax exemption status under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance on 14 February 2023. Our mission is to support aerospace education, research, and international cooperation while advancing peaceful space development through educational initiatives, scholarships, and research programs.
HKIACF has nine core objectives: (1) Supporting space industry development and talent education, (2) Establishing prizes and scholarships for outstanding contributions, (3) Connecting global entities for aerospace development, (4) Planning aerospace education institutions in Hong Kong, (5) Promoting deep space exploration research, (6) Facilitating civilian exchange through space science education, (7) Assisting in establishing space technology museums, (8) Promoting Hong Kong's NewSpace Economy development, and (9) Building a shared future for humanity through peaceful space development.
HKIACF operates with a dual-board system to ensure good governance and prevent excessive concentration of power. The Board of Trustees oversees financial authority, approves funding and budgets, and manages investments. The Board of Executives handles day-to-day administration, implements objectives, manages external relations, fundraising, and establishes committees. This structure ensures fairness, openness, and transparency in our operations.
There are many ways to get involved: apply for our scholarship programs, volunteer for events, partner with us as an organization, or make a donation to support our initiatives. We support aerospace education programs, research initiatives focusing on high-end and cutting-edge space technologies, international cooperation projects, scholarship programs, Belt and Road Initiative exchanges, space technology museum development, NewSpace Economy initiatives including commercial space centers, space logistics, lunar mining, space tourism, and satellite development projects that align with our mission of advancing aerospace knowledge and peaceful space development.
Scholarships
Our scholarships are available to students pursuing aerospace engineering, space sciences, astronomy, or related fields at undergraduate and graduate levels. We particularly support young people from Hong Kong aspiring to become national astronauts, payload specialists, or space scientists. Eligibility criteria include academic excellence, demonstrated interest in aerospace, financial need, and commitment to contributing to peaceful space development.
Scholarship applications are typically open from September to January each year. We offer scholarships at aerospace universities and support various educational levels. We also provide opportunities for international exchanges, particularly with Belt and Road Initiative countries.
Our scholarships provide comprehensive support including tuition assistance, living allowances, research funding, mentorship opportunities, and access to teaching facilities for space technologies. We also support participation in research and development projects in China and internationally, visits and exchanges with aerospace entities, and career development toward becoming space professionals.
Partnerships & NewSpace Economy
We welcome partnerships with educational institutions, research organizations, aerospace companies, government entities, and other foundations. We're particularly interested in collaborations that support the NewSpace Economy, including commercial space centers, space logistics, satellite development, and space tourism initiatives. HKIACF actively promotes and assists the Hong Kong Government in studying, planning, and creating the NewSpace Economy. This includes designing commercial space centers, establishing Hong Kong as an international commercial aerospace hub, promoting investment and financing services, and supporting the development of comprehensive commercial aerospace industry chains in areas such as space logistics, lunar mining, Earth-Moon communications, space tourism, and commercial satellite and rocket development.
Yes, we offer various corporate sponsorship packages for events, programs, and initiatives. Sponsors receive recognition, networking opportunities, and the satisfaction of supporting aerospace education and peaceful space development. We particularly welcome support from entities interested in contributing to Hong Kong's position as an international aerospace hub and the broader NewSpace Economy development.
